LNG Terminal Facility
Sub-Saharan Africa's first LNG import terminal, featuring an innovative combination of a purpose-built Floating Regasification Unit twinned with an existing LNG carrier to receive, store, and regasify LNG for Ghana's energy sector.

Project Overview
Helios Investment Partners established Tema LNG Terminal Company (TLTC) to develop, construct and operate sub-Saharan Africa's first LNG import terminal. The Euphoria Consult served as In-House Project Management Consultants for this groundbreaking USD 400 million project. TLTC employs an innovative combination of a purpose-built Floating Regasification Unit twinned with an existing LNG carrier to receive, store and regasify LNG. This system provides Ghana with all the functionality of a large-scale FSRU-based terminal with added flexibility of operations yet at a significantly reduced cost. Operations commenced in mid-2020, at which time gas began being imported into the terminal and piped out to customers in Ghana.

Historic FSRU Sister Ship Meeting at Wilhelmshaven
Partner Recognition from LNG Terminal Wilhelmshaven

LNG Terminal Wilhelmshaven
Strategic Alliance Partner
On November 18, a truly remarkable event took place at the LNG Terminal Wilhelmshaven 1: the FSRU Höegh Gannet was berthed alongside its sister ship, the Höegh Esperanza, for a brief period.
This rare meeting served an important operational purpose—the Höegh Gannet was refueled with approximately 40,000 cubic meters of LNG from the Höegh Esperanza to prepare for its return to Brunsbüttel.
Previously, the Höegh Gannet had completed technical work at the Fayard shipyard in Denmark and is scheduled to resume operations at the Elbehafen Brunsbüttel at the end of November.
This historic event demonstrates the operational flexibility and coordination capabilities of modern LNG infrastructure, showcasing how sister vessels can support each other in maintaining energy security for the region.
Congratulations from the entire LNG Terminal Wilhelmshaven team
